THE CURRENTS IN CURRENT EVENTS

Jonathan Dobrer

Understand the currents of world and local events that link and separate disparate stories, issues and controversies. We will learn about and discuss the people, places and conflicts both in the headlines and hidden from plain view that stir our passions and the passions of the world. Each session will begin with international news, their consequences to America and our local community, and move to stories on the domestic front and explore their relevance to us.

Professor Dobrer is a lecturer at AJU. He is a member of the Los Angeles Press Club and writes two Op-Ed columns: one for the Los Angeles Daily News and the other for The Fullerton Observer. Dobrer holds degrees in International Relations, Philosophy and Religion. He studied in Vienna and spent two years in the Peace Corps in Tunisia. Growing up locally Dobrer started his professional life doing stand-up comedy. He brings both wit and broad knowledge to the serious and ridiculous issues of our day.
